Detailed Solution

Patliputra was the old name for Patna. It is the capital city of present-day Bihar state. This place was once an important centre for Gupta rulers and other places like Allahabad, Prayag, and Ujjain. Patliputra was located at the confluence of one of the important rivers of India, known as the Ganga and Son. This region was an important Centre because it provided the trading route through inland navigation for the rulers from Magadha to Gupta Empire. Harshavardhana also captured the city of Patliputra when he tried to wage a battle against the ruler of Bengal. This way, Patliputra became an important trade centre and prosperity.
