Detailed Solution

Patidars and Jats are rich peasants of Gujarat and Uttar Pradesh. Wealthy peasant classes, such as the Patidars of Gujarat and the Jats of Uttar Pradesh, joined the Civil Disobedience movement. They were the cash crop producers who were hit hard by the slowing trade and subsequent fall in prices. They became ardent supporters of the movement and even encouraged others to join it. The movement for Swaraj for Jats and Patidars was a struggle against paying exorbitant salaries to wealthy farmers. They were devastated when the movement was cancelled in 1931, with the rate of income unchanged. Thus when the movement was revived in 1932, many refused to join.
