Begar was related to the peasant movement. In Awadh, peasants and locals of Awadh led the action against the talukdars and landlords of Awadh. They forced the everyday life of peasants or locals to degrade up to “begar”. Because the landlord and Talukdarss of Awadh were taking complete work from peasants and locals on their land, the landowners were not about to pay a penny or give them payment. It deteriorates the condition of peasants toward the beggar. So peasants were against the landlord and taluks and demanded the abolition of “begar”.
