Detailed Solution

People who perform rituals are called Brahmins in Rigveda.
There are various ways to characterise people in terms of their occupations, the language they speak, the place they belong to, their families, their communities, and cultural practices. Rigveda describes two groups of people according to their work: the brahmins and the rajas. Brahmins were priests who performed various rituals. The rajas were the protectors. But in this period, they did not have capital cities, palaces, or armies, nor did they collect taxes. Sons did not hereditarily succeed fathers as rajas. Jana and vish were the two terms mentioned in Rigveda to describe the people or the community as a whole.
