Peptization process involves

Peptization is the conversion of a precipitate into colloidal particles after the addition of an appropriate electrolyte. The additional electrolyte is referred to as a peptizing agent.
As an illustration, when recently precipitated ferric hydroxide is mixed with a little amount of ferric chloride solution, a reddish brown tinted colloidal solution results.
