Detailed Solution

Periyar Naicker wanted to establish a society in which caste inequalities are absent.
Periyar started the Self-Respect Movement because he thought that the untouchables had to fight for their dignity. He said that the untouchable people were the ones who really kept the Tamil and Dravidian cultures alive. Periyar wanted the untouchables to be free and equal with everyone else very much. Periyar was an outspoken critic of Hindu scriptures, especially those by the ancient lawgiver Manu's Codes, the Bhagavad Gita, and the Ramayana. He thought that these scriptures gave Brahmans power over lower castes and gave men the right to rule over women. The upper-caste nationalist leaders didn't agree with Periyar's ideas very much.
