Detailed Solution

Petrol and water are immiscible liquids. This property allows us to separate them using a separating funnel. Here is the general process of separating petrol from water using a separating funnel:

Pour the mixture of water and petrol into the funnel.Allow the mixture to settle, and you will see that two layers have formed. Petrol, being lighter, forms the upper layer, and water, being denser, forms the lower layer.

Open the stopcock of the funnel slowly, and let the water layer flow out into another beaker.Once the water has been drained out, close the stopcock and carefully pour the petrol layer into a separate container.
