Detailed Solution

Placer deposits are not corroded by water. The alluvial deposits containing minerals sometimes occur in the sands of valley floors and hill bases. Such mineral deposits are termed placer deposits. They do not get corroded by water. Precious metals like gold, platinum, and silver are found in these deposits. Placers can be identified as the areas with gold occurring in lode (hard rock) sediments. The metal, gold, gets washed away by rainfall and is transported to nearby places by gravity or hydraulic action.
