It is given that planet X is at a distance of 9.35× 10 6  km   from Jupiter and planet Y is 6.27× 10 7  km   from Jupiter.
The distance between planet X and Jupiter =9.35× 10 6  km.        ....(1)   Apply a m × a n = a m+n   in equation (1) we get, 9.35× 10 6  km = 9.35× 10 10 × 10 6  km  9.35× 10 6  km =0.935× 10 7  km                                                 ...(2)  
Therefore the distance between planet X and Jupiter =0.935× 10 7  km.   The distance between planet Y and Jupiter =6.27× 10 7  km   It is clear that 6.27× 10 7   km is greater than 0.935× 10 7  km.  
Hence, planet X is nearer to Jupiter.
