Detailed Solution

Pocket-size books that are sold by travelling peddlers are known as a chapbook. It is a type of printed street literature made up of small, paper-covered booklets written on a single sheet and folded into books of eight, twelve, sixteen, or twenty-four pages. When printed books became affordable in the sixteenth century, the chapbook tradition arose. These penny chapbooks were typically made with rough woodcuts. These booklets were illustrated and read aloud in front of a group of people. Folk tales, songs, nursery rhymes, pamphlets, and political and religious tracts were all published in chapbooks. In the nineteenth century, the term "chapbooks" was coined to designate this type of writing. These books were sold by Chapman, who were licenced or authorised peddlers.
