Detailed Solution

This 48 hours period is called as the silence period ( or aachar sanhita) which begins 48 hours before the election day and ends after the polling. During this period, no campaigning is allowed in any way on television, FM or any digital media platform. Election Commission of India keeps a close watch on the Model Code of Conduct. This silence period is given to the registered voters a peaceful time to take their decision on which party or candidate to vote. Nobody can force the voters by any means.
