Detailed Solution

Poona Pact was an agreement to reserve the electoral seats for the depressed class.
The Poona Pact was signed on September 24, 1932, between Mahatma Gandhi and Dr Ambedkar in Yerwada Jail, Poona. British Prime Minister Ramsay MacDonald announced the Communal Award after the Second Round Table Conference by recognising a separate electorate for the depressed class. His only goal was to create dissatisfaction among Indians and weaken them by creating trust issues, communalism, and a lack of unity. Gandhiji was against it and started fasting up to death and requested Ambedkar not to accept the communal award. Thus, Ambedkar annulled the communal award by agreement on the Poona Pact. However, the voting for the reserved seats was to be done by the general electorate.
