Detailed Solution

Alternating current has the primary benefit of having a very simple method for changing its voltage. This enables electricity to be transported at extremely high voltages before being lowered to safer levels for commercial and domestic usage.

AC transmission lines are cheaper than DC transmission lines. Small conductors are used for AC  transmission  compared to  DC transmission.  AC transmission lines require a transformer to raise or lower the voltage.

The power transmitted in Alternating current is always less or small than the direct current because of the following factors:

  1. High number of conductors
  2. High voltage drop
  3. Dielectric loss and more insulation effect in Alternating current transmitters than direct current transmitters.
