Detailed Solution

PRI stands for Institutional Revolutionary Party. The Institutional Revolutionary Party, or the PRI, was founded in 1929 in Mexico. It first came to power as the National Revolutionary Party and then as the Mexican Revolutionary Party for 71 years from 1929 to 2000. Until 2000, all elections were won by the Institutional Revolutionary Party of Mexico. The opposition contested the elections but never won. This was made possible by the unfair election practices undertaken by the party. State school teachers advised and sometimes forced parents to vote in favour of PRI. The media mainly ignored the opposition parties' actions. Voting was made challenging due to the last-minute relocation of polling places. PRI also contributed substantial sums of money to the candidates' campaigns.
