Detailed Solution

Prince Khurram was Jahangir’s son. He is often referred to as Shah Jahan. The fifth Mughal Emperor, who ruled from 1628 to 1658, was originally known as Shahab-ud-din Muhammad Khurram. He was the third child of Jahangir, also known as Prince Salim, and was born in Lahore in 1592. Although Shah Jahan had several wives, Mumtaz Mahal is the one for whom he is best remembered. In recognition of his favourite and beloved wife, Mumtaz, he commissioned the construction of the Taj Mahal in Agra, Uttar Pradesh, in the year 1632, earning him a place in Indian history as a result of his achievement. This monument, which is built of white marble and rests on a pedestal, is also known as the Crown of the Palace. Under Ustad Ahmad Lahauri's direction, some 20,000 artisans were employed in total for the building.
