The different colours we see are all composed of visible light, the sunlight. All the visible colours combine to form white light. We can see different colours coming out of white light with the help of a prism. The dispersion of light is the phenomenon of splitting of white light into its seven constituent colours when travelled through a transparent medium such as a prism by refraction.
