Detailed Solution

Answer : 4

The given system of equations is 𝑥 + 2𝑦 + 5 = 0 and − 3𝑥 − 6𝑦 + 1 = 0.

These equations are of the form 𝑎1𝑥 + 𝑏1𝑦 + 𝑐1 = 0  and 𝑎2𝑥 + 𝑏2𝑦 + 𝑐2 = 0

By comparison, we can conclude, 𝑎 1 = 1, 𝑎2 =− 3 𝑏1 = 2, 𝑏2 =− 6, 𝑐1 = 5 𝑎𝑛𝑑 𝑐2 = 1,

 Here, a¯1a¯2=13

b1b2=26

 Also, c1c2=51

From the above results, we can infer that, a1a2=b1b2c1c2

Therefore, the given system of equations has no solution.

Answer : 1

Solution: The given equation is x2+kx-54=0 and we need to find the value of k.
Since 12 is a root, therefore x =12 it will satisfy the given equation.

122+k12-54=0

14+k2-54=0

k=2

Hence value of k = 2
