Neutrophils and monocytes are phagocytic cells which destroy foreign organisms entering the body. Neutrophils are polymorphonuclear leucocytes (PMN) while basophils are mononuclear phagocytes (MNP). Neutrophils are known as ‘microscopic policemen’.
