Concept- An acid soda fire extinguisher works by cutting off the air supply. Works on all types of fire except electrical fire and flammable liquids. Carbon dioxide is released by the action of acid on baking soda. Increases the percentage of carbon dioxide in the air (CO2 does not support combustion).
The soda acid fire extinguisher consists of an acid i.e. sulphuric acid and baking soda Question Image.
When sulphuric acid and baking soda of extinguisher reacts, carbon dioxide gas is released which helps to extinguish the fire because fire spreads due to the availability of oxygen in the air in excess but when carbon dioxide is liberated, its concentration in the air increases and being a non-supporter of combustion, it stops the fire from spreading and extinguishes it.
