Detailed Solution

In a municipal corporation, the elected member is called a Ward councillor.
The people of each ward choose their representatives through a free and fair election in a municipal corporation. They are known as the Ward Councillors. Ward councillors have the power to elect the chairman from among themselves. The 74th amendment act of the Indian Constitution established local self-government in an urban area. It divided a district in a state into a different number of wards. A town is much bigger than a rural area and more spread out. The needs of a city are very different from those of a village. The town has a larger population and a greater number of public facilities.
