Detailed Solution

Vindhya mountain range is marked in the Indian map.
The Vindhya ranges form a loosely bounded range of mountains to the central part of India. It runs parallel to the river Narmada via Madhya Pradesh. The Narmada river and the Vindhya ranges form the boundary of north India from south India. There are different interpretations of the extent of the Vindhyas. The Satpura ranges run parallel to the Vindhyas, believed to be a part of the irregular and undefined Vindhyan ranges. It has a prominent place in mythologies and Puranas. The Chambal and Betwa rivers flow through the region through the northern slopes, and the Son and Narmada rivers drain the southern slopes of the mountains.
