The second world war started in 1939 and ended in 1945. There were two major alliances in this world war – the axis alliance (Germany, Italy and Japan) and the allied power(England, France and Soviet Union , later on the United States joined).
In 1939, 1st September Germany attacked Polland which was the beginning of the second world war. This event influenced the United States to pass the lend lease act in 1941. By this act the United States said that they can lend or lease war equipment to any of their allied countries. This act was passed in 1941. At that time Franklin Roosevelt was the president of the United States.
