Suraiya Badruddin Tayyabji from Hyderabad was an ICS officer in PMO in 1947. The Indian flag was designed by Suraiya Badruddin Tayyabji and was approved on 17th July,1947.
Pingali Venkayya ji designed the 'Home Rule League' flag and the first Congress flag which contained a "charkha" in it. (Not the present Indian flag that has a wheel on it with 24 spokes.
