Detailed Solution

‘Palar Pani’ is the term used to describe rainwater in the desert regions of the state of Rajasthan. It is regarded as the purest form of natural water. Therefore, it can be sufficiently used for drinking purposes. In desert areas, the rainfall is very little, so people conserve the rainwater and store it in underground facilities constructed in their houses. These facilities are known as ‘tankas’ in the western areas of Rajasthan and are generally made of stones, mud or bricks. When all other drinking water supplies have dried up, especially during the summer, the rainwater may be stored in the tankas until the next rainfall, making it an incredibly reliable source.
