Raja Ram Mohan Roy published Sambad Kaumudi in 1821. There have been intense debates and arguments over religious and social aspects. Each day new arguments evolved and reached people. These debates, some of which reshaped India's integrity simultaneously with the independence movement. In 1821, it was published by Raja Ram Mohan Roy. From 1822, there were other newspapers published in the Persian language (the Persian language was considered an elite language at the period)-those were "Jam-i-Jahan Nama" and "Shamsul Akhbar". Simultaneously, the Hindu orthodoxy published "Samachar Chandrika" to counter the arguments of Ram Mohan Roy and his newspaper.
