The Rajarajeshvara temple is located at Thanjavur. The Rajarajeshvara temple is famous in the country and is mainly known for its tall shikhara. It is notable that during its time, the Rjarajeshvara had the tallest shikhara among all other temples in the subcontinent. It was not an easy task to put a 90-tonne stone on top of the shikhara at that time when there were no cranes. The piece was too heavy to be lifted manually. So, the architects used the technique of building an inclined path to the top of the temple. They placed the boulder on rollers and rolled it to the top of the temple. People are still proud of the construction technique and the achievement.
