Detailed Solution

Rank and salary were determined by a mansab’s Zat.
The Mansabdari system used in India under the Mughal dynasty included a rank called zat. Within the administrative structure, there existed a military division called the Mansabdari system. It is thought that Mongolia is where this system first emerged. Although it existed throughout the rule of Babur and Humayun, it was not particularly prominent. Later, when Akbar came to power, he made several significant adjustments to the system that substantially increased its efficiency. In the Mansabdari system, the ranks of ‘zat’ and ‘sawar’ were first established by Akbar. In the Mughal Empire, a mansab's zat determined his rank and salary.
