Most women did not have access to education.
The majority of women lacked access to schooling in France. Only a select few Second Estate women were permitted to pursue an education; some were even allowed to attend convent institutions. Their education frequently included fundamental reading and writing skills and feminine pursuits like cooking, sewing, dancing, etc. Too much knowledge was viewed as unfeminine and unattractive in a woman. However, Third Estate women were illiterate and worked in menial, low-paying jobs. In comparison to their male counterparts, they received much lower pay.
