Statement I:In order to perform artificial hybridization experiments on pea plants, Mendel has chosen 7 characters, each one manifested as two opposing traits.

Statement II: Mendel performed experiments with 7 pairs of  true-breeding pea plant varieties.

In light of the given statements, choose the correct answer from the options given below.

In order to perform hybridisation experiments Mendel choose 7 characters,each character expressed in either of the two contrasting traits. Example Plant height - Tallness or Dwarfness.

During the experiment a Tall plant is crossed with a Dwarf plant. So a pair of  parent plants with a contrasting trait is involved per experiment .

The  number of  pea plants involved in crossing for 7 characters would be 7 pairs i.e; 14 plants in total.
