In all the three kinds of muscles, the contractile filaments are present. But in smooth muscles they are irregularly arranged.

Smooth muscles do contain contractile filaments, similar to skeletal muscles. However, the arrangement of these filaments is different. In smooth muscles, the contractile filaments are not organized into distinct striations, which is why they are called smooth muscles. The contractile filaments in smooth muscles are actin and myosin, just like in skeletal muscles, but their arrangement is more irregular, which gives the smooth muscles their smooth appearance under a microscope.
