St - I: CF₁ of ATP synthase is not embedded in the membrane of thylakoid, and it does not carry out active transport of protons. CF1 (also known as F1) is the catalytic portion of ATP synthase and is located on the stromal side (the side facing the stroma) of the thylakoid membrane in the chloroplasts. It does not transport protons but instead functions in the synthesis of ATP during the light-dependent reactions of photosynthesis.
