Odisha is the largest producer of manganese in India.
It is always found in conjunction with iron. The iron and steel sector is the primary user of manganese. It is the primary raw material used to make steel alloys. Maharashtra, Madhya Pradesh, Odisha, Andhra Pradesh, and Karnataka are the top manganese ore-producing states in India. Together, Maharashtra and Madhya Pradesh produce over half of India's manganese. Although Odisha has the most manganese reserves, it ranks third in manganese production after Madhya Pradesh and Maharashtra.
