Detailed Solution

The length of inland navigation waterways in India is about 14,500 km.  Permanent water bodies inland from the coastal zone and areas are referred to as inland waters. Rivers, canals, backwaters, and creeks are examples of these. The Ganges, Bhagirathi, and Hooghly rivers are India's most navigable rivers with waterways. The inland waterways are made up of these. India is the only country with a large network of inland waterways. The overall navigable length is 14,500 kilometres, with mechanised vessels using around 5,200 kilometres of river and 4,000 kilometres of canal. All of these waterways transport around 44 million tonnes of freight each year. Mechanised vessels and country boats are used in this.
