The social composition, along with the inability to buy food, also plays a role in food insecurity. India has been aiming at self-sufficiency in food grains since its Independence. India has become self-sufficient in food grains during the last thirty years because of various crops grown all over the country. The National Food Security Act, 2013 provides food and nutritional security at affordable prices and enables people to live a life with dignity.
