Detailed Solution

Red soil develops on crystalline, igneous rocks in areas of low rainfall in the eastern and southern parts of the Deccan plateau. The soil takes on a scarlet tint when iron diffuses widely in crystalline and metamorphic rocks. It has a yellow hue when it is hydrated. Fertility is often found in fine-grained red and yellow soils, whereas coarse-grained soils in dry upland regions are deficient in nitrogen, phosphate, and humus. Yellow and red soils can also be found in Odisha, Chhattisgarh, the middle Ganga plain's southern regions, and the Western Ghats' piedmont zone.
