Detailed Solution

Red soil develops on crystalline igneous rocks in areas of low rainfall in the eastern and southern parts of the Deccan Plateau.
Red soil is a type of soil that grows in warm, temperate, and humid regions and accounts for approximately 13% of all soils on Earth. On top of red alluvium, layers are thin organic and organic-mineral layers of severely leached soil. It occurs on crystalline igneous rocks in low-rainfall areas of the eastern and southern parts of the Deccan plateau. Yellow and red soils are also found in Odisha, Chhattisgarh, the southern Ganga plain, and the Western Ghats piedmont zone. These soils are reddish in colour due to iron diffusion in crystalline and metamorphic rocks. It has a yellow colour when hydrated.
