Detailed Solution

Refusal to touch people belonging to a certain caste is known as untouchability. Untouchability can also be defined as an aversion to touching people of specific castes, as well as any belief or social practises that look down on someone because they were born with certain caste identities. As equal citizens, they are denied interaction with others and access to public spaces. The Indian Constitution makes reference to the practice of untouchability and specifically instructs the government to abolish it. Consequently, untouchability became a crime under the Constitution. Dalits and members of Scheduled Castes are still subjected to untouchability and caste prejudice.
