Detailed Solution

Religious functionaries of Sikh gurdwaras were known as Mahants. Many local movements were led as support for the non-cooperation movement. Peasants proclaimed swaraj and believed that ‘Gandhi raj’ would begin as a result Gandhiji would help to reduce their taxes.  Muslim traders and peasants in Sind ( now a place in Pakistan) were very eager about the Khilafat call. The Khilafat-Non-Cooperation alliance gave strength to the national movement. In Punjab, Sikhs led the Akali agitation to remove the corrupt mahants (Religious functionaries of Sikh gurdwaras were known as mahants). This movement was closely related to the Non-Cooperation Movement. In Assam, tea garden labourers demanded an increase in their wages. All these movements were a part of the noncooperation movement.
