Let the number of words typed by Renu in 8 minutes be x. Then,

We can clearly see that, less the time is taken, the less will be the number of words typed.
Therefore, this is the case of direct proportion.
As this is the case of direct proportion, therefore the ratio will remain constant throughout the table that is,
540 30 = x 8 18 1 = x 8   Cross multiplying,
18×8=1×x   Solving for x,
x=144   Hence, the number of words typed by Renu in 8 minutes is 144.
