Detailed Solution

Resistivity, also known as specific resistance, is a fundamental property of a material that measures how strongly it resists electric current. It is represented by  (rho). The SI unit of resistivity is Ωm. The resistivity of a substance is the same as the resistance of a rod of that substance which is 1 metre long and 1 square metre in cross-section.
The formula for resistivity is,
               Resistivity (ρ)=×Al
Where,
R= resistance of the conductor
A= area of cross-section of the conductor
l = length of the conductor
The resistivity of a substance is not influenced by its thickness or length. It depends on temperature and the nature of the substance.
