Detailed Solution

Rinderpest arrived in Africa in the late 1880s. It spread across the continent in two years, reaching Cape Town (Africa's southernmost tip) in five years.
1)      Cattle Loss: The disease's germs were transferred by diseased cattle brought from British Asia to feed Italian troops attacking Eritrea in Eastern Africa. Roughly 90% of the livestock died from rinderpest. Because cattle were the people's primary source of money, the loss of livestock devastated African livelihoods.
2)      Africans forced into the labour market: Planters, mine owners, or colonial administrations could have a monopoly on the few remaining livestock resources, allowing them to solidify their authority and force Africans into the labour market.
