Detailed Solution

Given, dimensions of the water tank = 180 cm×120 cm×60 cm
Since, top of the water tank is covered with an iron lid
Thus, the area of tank to be covered with the tiles = area of base + area of walls
= lb+2 l+bh
=180×120+2(180+120)(60) =21600+36000 =57600 cm2
Area of tile = length of tile × breadth of tile
=10×8=80 cm Therefore, number of tiles required =area of tankarea of 1 tile=5760080=720
Since, cost of 12 tiles = 480
Cost of 720 tiles = 480 ×72012=480×60=Rs 28800, which is the required cost
Hence, the given statement is true.
