Detailed Solution

River Indus originates in the Kailash range.
Leh, Karachi, and Hyderabad (Pakistan) are some of the cities in the course of the river. It has a drainage area of over 1,165,000 square kilometres and is fed by the melting glaciers of the Himalayas. Its left bank tributary through India is the five rivers through Punjab - Ravi, Chenab, Beas, Jhelum, and Sutlej. One of the most threatened species, the Indus river dolphin, is found exclusively in the Indus river. The river is a source of water for the Punjab plains and Pakistan.
