River Narmada rises from the Amarkantak plateau.
Narmada river is the major river of the Peninsular in India. It flows east to west and is the longest west-flowing river in India. It rises from the Amarkantak Plateau in the state of Madhya Pradesh. It flows through the states of Maharashtra, Madhya Pradesh, and Gujarat and empties into the Arabian Sea through the Gulf of Khambhat in the state of Gujarat. It is 1312 km in length. It is one of the major rivers that flow through the rift valley. Narmada runs between the two mountain ranges- the Vindhyas and the Satpuras. It considers the traditional boundary between North India and South India.
