Root nodules in alnus is formed by Frankia. Nitrogen in atmosphere can’t directly absorbed by plants. So, they formed root nodules with the bacteria (or) fungi which is in symbiotic association with plants. In leguminous plants, Rhizobium species are found. In non –  leguminous plants like Alnus, Frankia is associated.
