The Rural Employment Generation Programme (REGP) was launched in 1995. It was designed to assist individuals in developing their self-employment prospects as well as to assist them in developing more self-employment options in rural and small communities. On April 1st, 1995, the Khadi & Village Industries Commission (KVIC) introduced and started it. The country's municipalities and rural regions have created employment prospects for almost 2 million job seekers in the KVI industry. One of its goals was to provide a provision to raise the high-scale businesses' demand for the raw materials produced by small-scale enterprises.
