Ryotwari settlement was a deal between ryots and Britishers.
The Ryotwari Settlement was made for the ryots or cultivators working in the field. In the Ryotwari system, an initial loan was provided to the cultivators by which they could start their work to use the money to purchase the item they needed in cultivation. But the cultivators could not repay the loan because they were paid a small amount of money as their charges to cultivate indigo. And that loan was increased yearly and burdened from generation to generation.
