Le Chatelier's principle is applicable to both physical and chemical equilibrium. When stress is applied either to physical or chemical equilibrium, the equilibrium will shift in the direction where the effect of the stress is reduced.

The melting of ice is favored by high pressure and high temperature. The melting of ice is an endothermic reaction. At high temperature, the equilibrium shifts to the right so that the heat absorbed lowers the effect of increased temperature. This is according to Le chatelier's principle.
