Sa'adat Khan was appointed as the Subedar of Awadh in 1722.
On September 9, 1722, Burhan-ul-Mulk Sa'adat Khan was chosen to succeed Girdhar Bahadur as the governor or Subedar of Awadh in modern-day Uttar Pradesh. Before entering the province, Khan assembled his soldiers and spent the duration of his journey at Farrukhbad. The Zamindars in Awadh initially defied Khan's order and disobeyed the Mughal laws. Khan sent agents to evaluate agricultural production to address the fiscal and jagirdar issues facing Awadh. The number of Mughal-appointed jagirdars declined under Sa'adat Khan. Jagir's dimensions
also shrank, filling available positions with his reliable workers. After examining the jagirdars' records, representatives appointed by the Nawab's court assessed the earnings of each area.
