Concept- In order to solve the given question, First assume the age of Sachin as ‘x’. Thus the age of Rahul and the ratio of their present ages is 7:9. To find the value of x the property used will be a crossed product.
Here,
let age of sachin be

x

Then it is given that Rahul is 7 years older than sachin.
Thus, age of Rahul is

x + 7

Now, ratio of their age is given as 7:9
We can say that,

x : x + 7 = 7 : 9

Also write as,

\frac{x}{x + 7} = \frac{7}{9}

Using cross multiplication,

9 x = 7 x + 49

2 x = 49

x = 24.5

Therefore,
Age of sachin

= x = 24.5

Age of Rahul

= x + 7 = 24.5 + 7 = 31.5

Hence, the correct answer is option 1.
